Websites for language schools and tutors
For language schools and tutoring centres, we build websites with an online placement test, booking for one-to-one or group lessons, and the virtual-classroom link sent out automatically. Students start at the right level, and tutees always know when and where the next session is. Coordinators stop marking paper tests and sending links one at a time.
Typical problems
- Placement tests are done on paper or by phone and marked by hand before each group is formed
- Online lessons depend on links sent out one by one, and someone can never find theirs
- Tutors swap slots between themselves and parents only find out when their child gets home
- Prepaid blocks of hours are tracked in a spreadsheet only one person understands
- Demand spikes before national exams and the phone cannot keep up
Suggested bundle
- Online placement test
- Lesson booking
- Automatic online-classroom links
From placement test to first lesson
An engineer about to move to Germany is looking for German lessons. On the school's website, he takes the placement test during a lunch break and learns he is at A2. The coordinator calls him for a quick chat, confirms the level and suggests a group on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
He signs up and chooses to attend online. The day before each lesson, a reminder arrives with the virtual-classroom link and that week's homework. When he misses a class, the materials are waiting in his student area.
For tutoring, parents' peace of mind
At a tutoring centre, a mother buys a block of maths sessions for her son, who sits a national exam at the end of the year. She checks on her phone when the next session is, reads the tutor's notes afterwards and gets an alert on the day he fails to turn up.
For the academic coordinator
- A placement test that marks itself and sends the result to the coordinator
- Groups by language, level and timetable, with a cap and a waiting list
- One-to-one lessons in each teacher's or tutor's diary
- Virtual-classroom links created and sent with no manual step
- Blocks of hours, course fees and trial lessons
- A parents' area showing attendance, hours left and notes from every session
Language school or tutoring centre
A language school competes with online courses from all over the world, so it needs to show up when someone searches for "English course" in its town; that is the job of SEO and Google visibility. A tutoring centre depends above all on parents, and a client area with attendance and notes is what reassures them most. Either way, the booking system keeps teachers, rooms and timetables in order.
Frequently asked questions
How does the placement test work?
Students answer grammar, vocabulary and comprehension questions online, which get easier or harder depending on their answers. At the end they get a suggested level on the Common European Framework of Reference, from A1 to C2, and the school completes the assessment with a short speaking check. The questions belong to the school, which can change them whenever it likes.
Which online-classroom tools can we use?
The ones you already use, such as Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. Each lesson's link goes out with the reminder, so students always find it in the same place. If the room changes at the last minute, everyone booked is told at once.
Can parents follow their child's tutoring?
Yes. In their own area, parents see the timetable, attendance, hours left in the block and the notes the tutor leaves after each session. They get an alert if their child misses one.
Can we sell blocks of hours?
Yes. You can sell blocks of hours, monthly course fees or a trial lesson, paid by card, MB WAY, Multibanco, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Each lesson taught is taken off the block, and students are told when their hours are running low.
What does a website with a placement test and booking cost?
Each school gets its own proposal, prepared by hand from the languages or subjects you teach, the number of teachers and how much of the placement test you want automated. Request a quote
