Websites and client portals for law firms
For law firms and solicitors, we build a secure area for exchanging documents with clients, online booking for the first consultation and a portal where each client can follow the stage their case has reached. The firm protects privilege without relying on e-mail attachments. Clients stop calling just to ask how things are going.
Typical problems
- Powers of attorney, deeds and ID documents travel as e-mail attachments, with no record of who opened them
- Clients ring several times a week to ask for an update on their matter
- Booking a first consultation takes a string of messages before a time is agreed
- The old website neither explains practice areas clearly nor stays within the professional rules on advertising
Suggested bundle
- Secure document exchange
- Consultation booking
- Case status portal
From first enquiry to a closed matter
A business owner abroad needs help buying commercial premises in Portugal. On the firm's website, they read a plain-English page on property transactions, pick a video consultation slot and describe the matter in a short form. Before the booking is confirmed, the team can check whether the firm already acts for anyone else involved, so conflicts are caught early.
After the call, the client is invited to the client portal. That is where they upload their passport and tax number certificate, sign the power of attorney and watch the matter move from "due diligence" to "promissory contract signed". When the deed is scheduled, the date shows up in the portal and a reminder goes out the day before.
What changes in the office
- Fewer update calls. The client sees the current stage without picking up the phone. Staff change the status in two clicks, and the note that goes with it can be reviewed before it is sent.
- Documents where they belong. Every file is linked to its matter and client, with version history, so nobody wonders which draft was the signed one.
- Deadlines in one view. A shared calendar shows deadlines and hearings across all matters, with alerts set by whoever runs each case.
Security comes before launch
A law firm holds information that must never leave its control. Before the portal opens to clients, we recommend a security and GDPR technical review: who can reach what, where backups live, how long data is kept and what happens when a client asks for it to be erased.
A website that explains
The institutional website sets out practice areas in plain language, with team profiles and articles that answer clients' most common questions. It also helps the firm show up when someone searches for legal help nearby or from another country.
Frequently asked questions
Will the website respect our professional body's advertising rules?
We design it to inform objectively, with practice areas, people, contact details and articles, and without comparisons or promised outcomes. The firm always signs off the final wording, since it knows its professional rules and answers for them.
How does document exchange protect legal privilege?
Files sit in an area protected by a password and a second factor, tied to the right matter and visible only to people with permission. Every view and download is logged. Data is hosted on servers in the European Union or on the firm's own.
Can clients see everything on their file?
No. The firm decides what is shared. Internal notes, strategy and correspondence with the other side stay with the team. The client sees the current stage, upcoming dates and the documents made available to them.
Can we charge for the first consultation when it is booked?
Yes. Booking can require payment up front by card, MB WAY, Multibanco, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and sends the confirmation with an invoice. It can also be free, or ask only for a deposit, depending on the firm's policy.
How much does a client portal for a law firm cost?
We quote each firm separately, based on the number of lawyers, the kind of matters you handle and what the portal needs to show. Request a quote
